Summary

EHSV je jedinečné fórum pro konzultace, dialog a hledání shody mezi zástupci ze všech možných odvětví organizované občanské společnosti. Jeho cílem je zajistit, aby tvorba politik a právních předpisů EU byla demokratičtější a účinnější a aby skutečně odrážela potřeby občanů EU. EHSV plní tři základní úkoly: poskytovat poradenství Evropskému parlamentu, Radě a Evropské komisi, zajistit, aby se o názorech organizací občanské společnosti vědělo v Bruselu, a podporovat a posilovat organizovanou občanskou společnost. Má 329 členů ze všech 27 členských států EU, kteří zastupují různé sféry společenského života a disponují širokou škálou znalostí a zkušeností. Členové EHSV jsou jmenováni Radou na návrh členských států na dobu pěti let a pracují nezávisle, v zájmu všech občanů EU.
