The Shannon Board of County Commissioners met on December 5, 2013, with Lyla Hutchison, Eugenio White Hawk, Wendell Yellow Bull, and Sue Ganje present. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and approval of the agenda. The board then approved the minutes of the November 1, 2013 meeting and the Auditor's Account with the Treasurer for October and November 2013. The Auditor's report showed total deposits of $1,313.79 in Wells Fargo Bank and $32,437.12 in First Interstate Bank, with total actual cash of $278.82 and total checks in the Treasurer's possession of $8,335.17. The board also accepted the verbal report of Veterans Services Officer Archie Hopkins and approved the General Fund Surplus Analysis dated September 30, 2013. Additionally, the board approved travel for Coroner Audrey Martinez to attend training in Sioux Falls and set the year-end meeting for December 30, 2013. Representatives from the Oglala Lakota Veterans Association met with the board to discuss changes to the VSO appointment and proposed providing office space and a computer for the VSO office in exchange for the board applying the rent funds to the new VSO's salary.
