Summary

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 2015, abolishes the bonded labour system in the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Act defines bonded labour, bonded debt, and bonded labourer, and declares that every bonded labourer shall stand freed and discharged from any obligation to render bonded labour. It also makes void any custom, tradition, practice, contract, or agreement that requires a person to work as a bonded labourer, and extinguishes the liability to repay bonded debt. The Act prohibits making advances under the bonded labour system, compelling people to render bonded labour, and obstructing inspectors. It provides for punishment for enforcement of bonded labour, extracting bonded labour, and obstructing inspectors, and establishes a Vigilance Committee to oversee the implementation of the Act.
