Parents should give priority to overall development of girl child: Dr Geete
On the occasion of International Girl Child Day, Dr Sneha Geete, IAS, Collector North Goa, said that parents should give priority to the overall development of the girl child. While speaking at the state-level function organized by the Directorate of Women and Child Development at the Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, she said that parents should encourage their girl child to participate in sports, games, and other activities.
Dr Geete emphasized the importance of International Girl Child Day in promoting the rights, empowerment, and addressing the challenges faced by the girl child. She also highlighted the need to change the mindset of society towards the girl child.
Dr Utkarsh Betodkar, a gynecologist, spoke about the importance of PC-PNDT Act and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
Clinical psychologist Ketaki Parab spoke about the need to provide emotional, physical, and psychological support to the girl child and to treat them equally.
The function was attended by Dr Rupa Naik, who was the guest of honor, and Shraddha Naik, who compered the function.
