The London TravelWatch board meeting on 22.03.16 discussed proposed changes to Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) ticket offices and the introduction of a Station Host role. The board expressed concerns and objected to the proposals as they stood, recommending that GTR trial the changes in various locations before full introduction. London TravelWatch suggested several elements for an acceptable proposal, including:
1. Including Station Host hours in the formal schedule,
2. Communicating with passengers about alternative ticketing options,
3. Supporting internet retailing of 'Boundary Zone' extension tickets,
4. Introducing Railcard discounts to Oyster Pay As You Go fares,
5. Implementing automated compensation for delays,
6. Simplifying fares and ticketing structures,
7. Improving TVM reliability and usability,
8. Informing and training passengers to use TVMs,
9. Adding local discount arrangements to TVMs,
10. Relocating TVMs to sheltered locations,
11. Communicating changes to passengers,
12. Explaining the role of Station Hosts,
13. Using TfL to contact Oyster/Contactless card users,
14. Acknowledging 'the Key' is not suitable for journeys within London Travelcard zones,
15. Creating detailed operational plans for each station, and
16. Trialling the proposal at various station types before widespread introduction.
