Agricultural employers in Kansas must follow various regulations and requirements, including:
1) determining if a worker is an independent contractor or employee,
2) obtaining a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN),
3) completing the Kansas "New Hire" Report,
4) registering with the Kansas Department of Revenue to withhold Kansas income tax,

4) deposit employee withholdings,
5) maintain withholding records,
6) make workers' compensation payments if applicable,
7) report work-related fatalities and catastrophes,
8) abide by Occupational Safety and Health standards, and
9) pay Kansas and Federal Unemployment if liable.
