Summary

However, the ABA has concerns about the extension of the regime to basic banking products, which it believes would subject simple products like direct debit facilities to unnecessary regulations. The ABA argues that basic deposit products should not be subject to the DDO regime, as they are already covered by the Banking Code of Practice, and that including them would complicate their provision without providing useful consumer protection. The ABA also suggests that wholesale ADI debentures should be exempt from the regulations to avoid unnecessary burdens on ADIs.
