Summary

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) has published a report on "Approaches to occupational disease surveillance and monitoring in the EU". The report aims to describe various approaches to surveillance and monitoring of occupational diseases in the EU, and to support evidence-based policy and prevention. The project's overall objective is to improve the prevention of occupational diseases by addressing new and emerging risks, which is one of the key challenges identified in the EU's strategic framework for health and safety at work for 2014-2020. The report also supports the 2003/670/EC recommendation on the European schedule of occupational diseases, which calls on member states to establish a system for collecting information on the epidemiology of occupational diseases.
