The OECD-DAC gender equality policy marker is a statistical tool to record aid activities that target gender equality as a policy objective, using a three-point scoring system: Not Targeted (Score 0), Significant (Score 1), and Principal (Score 2). The marker is based on donor intentions at the design stage, and projects/programmes marked as Significant and Principal are counted as gender equality focused aid. A gender analysis and a 'do no harm' approach are necessary for all aid activities. The marker provides an estimate of DAC members' aid in support of gender equality and is used to track changes over time and inform decisions on funding allocations. Minimum criteria have been established for each score, including the conduct of a gender analysis, adoption of a 'do no harm' approach, and presence of explicit gender equality objectives and indicators.
