The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is revising its customs evidence fee, excise tax regime, and other laws to comply with WTO requirements. The customs evidence fee will be €19 per customs declaration, applied to all customs procedures without exemption. FYROM will impose fees and charges for services related to importation or exportation only in conformity with WTO Agreements. The excise tax regime will be amended to equalize tax rates on wines and like beverages. FYROM is also drafting new legislation on antidumping, countervailing, and safeguard measures, and has updated its standardization regime to harmonize with WTO requirements. The country will adhere to the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade without a transitional period and has eliminated mandatory quality requirements for certain products. FYROM applies the same sanitary and phytosanitary measures to imported and domestically produced goods, based on international standards such as the Animal Health Code and the Codex Alimentarius.
