The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat submitted a report to the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, covering the period from April to June 2013. The Eighth Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-8) took place on 8-12 April 2013, and its highlights are presented in the report. As of May 2013, there are 178 contracting parties to the IPPC, with Zimbabwe being the most recent adherent. The IPPC Strategic Framework was adopted at CPM-7 (2012), and its implementation has begun. The CPM-8 (2013) adopted several International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs), including Annex 4 to ISPM 11 and Annex 1 to ISPM 15. The IPPC Secretariat has also applied ink amendments to adopted ISPMs and posted them on the International Phytosanitary Portal (IPP). Several draft ISPMs were approved for member consultation, including management of phytosanitary risks in the international movement of wood and minimizing pest movement by sea containers. The 2013 member consultation period lasts 150 days, from 1 July 2013 to 1 December 2013.
