The Standards Committee met to discuss and adopt various documents for submission to the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM). The committee adopted the agenda, elected a rapporteur, and discussed several topics, including terms of reference and rules of procedure for technical panels, annex 1 of the CPM's rules of procedure, procedures and criteria for identifying topics for the work programme, and rule VII of the CPM's rules of procedure on observers. The committee approved and modified several documents, including draft ISPMs on pest risk analysis, phytosanitary treatments, and pest-free areas, and specifications for irradiation treatments and pre-clearance for regulated articles. The committee also discussed guidelines on the duties of members and the role of a steward of an ISPM, and common procedures for technical panels. The meeting resulted in the approval of several documents to be submitted to the CPM for consideration.
