The ENERGY STAR Retail Products Platform (ESRPP) is a collaborative initiative between ENERGY STAR, energy efficiency program sponsors, and retailer partners. The goal is to transform markets by streamlining and harmonizing energy efficiency programs with retailers, making them less complex and more cost-effective. Key features include:

A national-level structure for program delivery and engagement with retailers
A common set of retail-based products for promotion
Critical scale achieved through consistent program design and lower per-unit incentive and administrative costs
Retailers providing access to critical sales and market share data in exchange for targeted product categories and streamlined data requirements

The ESRPP aims to increase the availability of ENERGY STAR products, generating energy savings as utility customers purchase and install more efficient models. The platform is expected to serve more than 25% of the US population by 2017.

Pilot programs will launch in 2016 on the East and West coasts, with a broader national program launching in 2017. Current participants include:

The ESRPP is expected to help consumers save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with the potential to save approximately 35% or more than $760 on household energy bills, while saving more than 8,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
