Summary

Das "Erbgesundheitsgesetz" vom 14. Juli 1933 war ein Gesetz, das die Zwangssterilisation von Menschen mit angeblichen Erbkrankheiten wie Schizophrenie, "angeborenem Schwachsinn" und "schwerem Alkoholismus" ermöglichte. Zwischen 1933 und 1945 wurden etwa 350.000 bis 360.000 Menschen zwangssterilisiert, wobei 5.000 bis 6.000 Frauen und etwa 600 Männer an den Folgen des Eingriffs starben. Das Gesetz und die darauf basierenden Maßnahmen müssen als Vorstufe des "Euthanasieerlasses" Adolf Hitlers betrachtet werden, der den Massenmord an Menschen mit Behinderungen und Erbkrankheiten ermöglichte.
