Summary

Over 1,500 migrants have been reintegrated in Cameroon through the Joint EU-IOM Initiative, with EU funding. The project, launched in 2017, aims to support socio-economic reintegration and raise awareness about irregular migration dangers. To date, 3,590 migrants have been assisted, with 1,574 effectively reintegrated, 3,389 receiving social support, and 571 receiving psychosocial support. The initiative has created income-generating activities or training for over half of the migrants. The project's progress, challenges, and sustainability strategies were reviewed during a Steering Committee meeting, attended by representatives from the EU, IOM, Cameroonian government, and civil society organizations. The EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa has created over 167,000 jobs for African migrants, benefiting both the migrants and their countries of origin.
