Summary

Die Verordnung (EG) Nr. 974/98 des Rates vom 3. Mai 1998 regelt die Einführung des Euro als einheitliche Währung in den teilnehmenden Mitgliedstaaten. Der Euro ersetzt die Ecu als Rechnungseinheit der Organe der Europäischen Gemeinschaften und wird ab 1. Januar 1999 verwendet. Die Verordnung legt fest, dass der Euro in hundert Untereinheiten mit dem Namen "Cent" unterteilt wird und dass die nationalen Währungseinheiten als Untereinheiten des Euro gelten. Die Verordnung regelt auch die Umrechnungskurse, die Kontinuität von Verträgen und die Ersetzung von Bezugnahmen auf die Ecu durch Bezugnahmen auf den Euro.
