Summary

The sales and use tax rate is one-quarter of 1 percent of gross receipts, and the ad valorem tax rate is 5 cents on each $100 of assessed valuation. The taxes are administered similarly to the Local School Support Tax Law, and the ad valorem tax is exempt from certain partial tax abatements and the statutory limitation on total ad valorem tax levy. The school district can pledge the tax proceeds and a portion of the governmental services tax to pay for bonds or obligations issued for capital projects.
