Svæðið Frístundabyggð í landi Sameykis sunnan Úlfljótsvatns hefur verið notað sem frístundabyggð og útivistarsvæði. Núverandi deiliskipulag er frá árinu 1993 og hefur verið notað til að skipuleggja byggingar og innviði á svæðinu. Svæðið er um 170.830 m² og eru 17 byggingar þar, þar af 12 í eigu Samiðnar. Það eru einnig leigulóðir í eigu aðildarfélaga. Svæðið hefur verið fornleifaskráð og eru tvær minjar innan svæðisins. Megintilgangur nýs deiliskipulags er að endurnýja gömul frístundahús og að stækka lóðir. Ætlunin er að nýta sem best innviði sem eru til staðar og að aðlaga þau breyttri fyrirkomulagi byggðar.
