California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) requires the Santa Rosa Plain Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) to develop a Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) to ensure sustainable management of the Santa Rosa Plain Groundwater Subbasin. The GSP aims to achieve and maintain groundwater sustainability 50 years into the future, addressing issues such as declining groundwater levels and climate change. The plan includes projects, management actions, and an implementation plan to achieve locally determined sustainability goals, with a focus on long-term sustainability and resiliency. The GSA was formed through a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement and includes an 18-member Advisory Committee to provide feedback and advice on the GSP. The plan is organized into sections, including introduction, description of the plan area, basin setting, sustainable management criteria, monitoring networks, projects and management actions, and implementation plan. Adaptive management is a key component of the GSP, allowing for adjustments and corrections as new information becomes available.
