Summary

The NTIA Broadband Infrastructure Program is a competitive grant program authorized by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, to support bridging the digital divide in unserved areas. The program provides up to $288M in federal assistance for "covered partnerships" to deploy fixed broadband service in eligible service areas. Eligible applicants include partnerships between a state or political subdivision and a fixed broadband service provider. The program defines eligible service areas as census blocks where broadband service is not available, and unserved areas as those where households lack access to qualifying broadband service. Grant awards are expected to range from $5M to $30M, and applicants must disclose any other federal or state funding received for broadband deployment in the proposed service area.
