The Commission wants to hear thoughts and ideas for a better welfare benefits system, and people can respond in various formats. The information collected will be used to create a "White Paper" on welfare benefits, containing proposed changes to the law, and will be followed by a campaign to implement these changes. The form includes questions on Universal Credit, sickness and disability, and other topics, with the deadline for response being 31 July 2019. Respondents suggest scrapping Universal Credit, replacing it with improved versions of previous benefits, and redirecting the welfare system to support and recognition of needs and entitlements, rather than a "back to work" agenda. They also propose abolishing the Work Capability Assessment and sanctions regime, and running the benefits system as a public service, rather than through private contractors.
