Summary

The Provincial Court of Manitoba will resume trials, dispositions, and special sittings in most locations starting June 28, 2021, while maintaining COVID-19 precautions, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and minimizing contacts. Trials and preliminary hearings will be held in person in major court centres, with accused persons and witnesses allowed to have up to two support people. Bail applications and dispositions will proceed remotely, with exceptions for in-person appearances requiring judicial permission. Virtual dockets will continue, with accused persons not allowed to attend in person. The court will consider requests for remote appearances and encourage counsel to explore remote proceedings for all matters, including trials.
