Karuah East Quarry (KEQ) is an approved hard rock quarry in NSW, approved by the NSW Planning Assessment Commission and the Commonwealth Department of Environment in 2014 and 2015, respectively. The project required further assessment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 due to potential impacts on four vulnerable species: Tetratheca juncea, Asperula asthenes, Grevillea parviflora subsp. Parviflora, and Phascolartos cinereus. The EPBC 2014/7282 was approved with 17 conditions, including the requirement for an Annual Compliance Report (ACR) to report compliance with these conditions. Construction commenced on 27 April 2016, and the ACR is published annually to address compliance with the conditions over the previous 12 months.
