- Product: KC-260, a soft metal cleaner.
- Hazards: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage, toxic to aquatic life, and may cause serious eye damage or eye irritation.
- Composition: Mainly water (60-90%), with other ingredients including ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, potassium hydroxide, and other chemicals in concentrations of 1-10%.
- First Aid: Rinse skin and eyes with water, seek medical attention if irritation persists. Do not induce vomiting if ingested.
- Fire Fighting: Use dry chemical, water spray, carbon dioxide, or foam. Substance does not burn but may decompose, producing corrosive and/or toxic fumes.
- Accidental Release: Isolate area, prevent entry into waterways, use non-combustible absorbent material for containment, and flush area with water after cleanup.
- Handling & Storage: Use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing, and store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place away from strong oxidizing agents.
- Exposure Controls: TWA exposure limits for main components are 20 ppm (ACGIH TLV) or 50 ppm (OSHA PEL) for ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, and 2 mg/m³ (ceiling) for potassium hydroxide. Use engineering controls like showers, eyewash stations, and ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment, including splash-proof goggles, face shield, neoprene gloves, and respiratory protection if exposure limits are exceeded.
