Summary

Ska Keller and Bas Eickhout, Green Lead Candidates, responded to a survey on EU lobbying transparency and regulation. They aim to prioritize citizens' interests over corporate interests by strengthening the European Parliament's powers, improving the functioning of the Petitions committee, and reforming the Commission's expert groups. They also plan to enforce guidelines for balancing stakeholder meetings, establish a strong and mandatory Transparency Register, extend the ban on meetings with unregistered lobbyists, introduce a legislative footprint, and ensure transparency in dealings with tobacco lobbyists. Additionally, they propose replacing the current self-policing system for preventing ex-Commissioners' conflicts of interests with a fully independent ethics body.
