The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) has four performance categories: quality, clinical practice improvement activities, meaningful use of certified EHR technology, and resource use. Eligible clinicians can submit data through a Qualified Registry, a CMS-approved entity that collects clinical data and submits it to CMS on their behalf. The 2017 qualified registries have been announced, and they will report data for the Quality, Advancing Care Information, and Improvement Activities performance categories. Each registry has provided detailed information, including contact information, measures, activities, and performance categories supported, services offered, and costs incurred by clients. Examples of qualified registries include 1+ Physician and Surgeon Quality Analytics and Reporting, and AAD's DataDerm, which offer various services such as quality analytics, reporting, and educational tools to support clinicians in improving their performance.
