The Memphis Police Department Sick Leave Bank provides paid sick leave to eligible employees who have exhausted their personal leave balances due to illness, injury, or caregiving for an immediate family member. Eligible employees must be full-time, have at least 48 hours of sick leave, and accrue sick leave. They can enroll in the bank by donating 16 hours of sick leave and may donate up to 600 hours. The bank is administered by a committee, and grants are available for employees who meet certain criteria, including medical certification and exhaustion of personal leave. Annual and special assessments may be made to maintain the bank's balance, and donations are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Employees can apply for grants using a Withdrawal Request Application and Medical Certification form, and applications must be received within 14 days of exhausting personal leave to qualify for retroactive grants.
