The network has held several meetings, including a foundation meeting in Seoul, and has developed a five-year plan and mission statement.

The network's main objectives include promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in wildland fire management, developing a system of fire specialists' training and awareness, and supporting the efforts of the UNISDR Global Wildland Fire Network. The network has also recommended the development of advanced methods and instruments for fire monitoring and decision support, and the promotion of international cooperation in fire management.
