Summary

The Provincial Court of Manitoba has revised its notice regarding teleconference availability in courtrooms. Effective March 23, 2020, bail applications and simple dispositions may be heard by teleconference unless a judge orders otherwise. To request a teleconference appearance, counsel must follow specific steps, including emailing the Crown Paralegal or appropriate mailbox, and providing necessary information. Requests must be sent by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the scheduled appearance. Counsel must be ready to proceed with their matters when the docket is scheduled to start and must follow conference call reminders, including identifying themselves for the court record and avoiding unnecessary interruptions. Recording of teleconference appearances is not permitted.
