The Indian Government's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is operationalizing a new online IT module for the Interest Equalisation Scheme (IES) from April 1, 2022. Exporters must apply online to generate a Unique IES Identification Number (UIN), which is required to avail benefits under the scheme. The UIN is valid for one year and must be submitted to the concerned bank along with the application. A user charge of ₹200 is applicable for generating a UIN. Banks will continue to scrutinize and issue benefits as per their internal process, with separate guidelines issued by the RBI.
