Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division presented a Commercialization Workshop on February 22, 2023, featuring three technologies:
1. Doubly-Separating Explosively Releasable Bolt (Patent No: US 10,989,243 B2) - a single bolt with two distinct energetic chains and fracture planes, increasing reliability while reducing complexity and volume.
2. Power Dense Bipolar High Voltage Capacitor Charger (Patent No. US11,222,744) - a power electronic converter producing high voltage outputs to charge pulsed power devices, with a 10x increase in power density over state-of-the-art supplies.
3. Power-dense bipolar high-voltage transformer (Patent No. US10,825,604) - a high voltage power transformer with a nested distribution of primary and secondary turns, minimizing leakage inductance and enabling higher power density resonant converter designs.
All technologies have potential commercial uses, including mission assurance, space vehicles, missiles, and staged rocket motors, with benefits such as increased reliability, reduction in damage, and cost savings.
