Summary

Het 'boerkaverbod' is een symboolpolitiek maatregel die vooral moslimvrouwen die een gezichtssluier dragen treft. Het verbod is ingevoerd onder het mom van verbetering van communicatie en veiligheid, maar in de praktijk leidt het tot uitsluiting, discriminatie en verbaal en fysiek geweld tegen moslimvrouwen. Stichting Meld Islamofobie pleit voor de afschaffing van het verbod, omdat het niet bijdraagt aan betere communicatie of veiligheid, maar juist het islamofobe klimaat versterkt.
