Summary

The bill allows health benefit plans to cover healthcare services provided by pharmacists who meet specified requirements, including holding a current license, being engaged in pharmacy practice, having a doctorate of pharmacy degree or 5 years of experience, carrying malpractice insurance, and devoting part of their practice to collaborative pharmacy practice. Pharmacists can enter into collaborative practice agreements with physicians if they meet these requirements and there is a mechanism for documenting changes to medical records. The bill prohibits employing physicians or advanced practice nurses solely for collaborative practice agreements and grants rule-making authority to the state board of pharmacy, Colorado medical board, and state board of nursing.
