Summary

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes special conditions for the Airbus Model A321-200 airplane, modified by FedEx Express, to install an infrared laser countermeasure system to protect against heat-seeking missiles. The FAA invites comments on the proposed special conditions, which contain additional safety standards to establish a level of safety equivalent to existing airworthiness standards. Comments must be received within 45 days of publication in the Federal Register.
