Overview:
Publish What You Pay (PWYP) has developed a strategic plan for 2020-2025 based on citizen participation, transparency, and accountability in the extractive industries (oil, gas, and minerals). The goal is to ensure that all people, especially women and marginalised communities, have a voice in decision-making processes at local to global levels.

Key Strategic Goals:

1. Enhanced Citizen Participation: By 2025, strengthen standards for inclusion and meaningful participation in initiatives like the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and Open Government Partnership (OGP). Promote Free, Prior, and Informed Consent processes with communities affected by extraction.

2. Global Transparency Norms: Make contract transparency and disclosure of beneficial owners of extractive companies and their supply chain global norms, similar to revenue disclosure requirements. Encourage members to analyse and use disclosures to curb corruption effectively.

3. Energy Transition and Environmental Impact: Advocate for the disclosure of the implications of the energy transition to a low-carbon economy on the extractive sector. Support calls for full environmental and social impact disclosures of extractive projects to aid decision-making.

4. Empowered Communities: By 2025, more communities should be able to make informed decisions about extraction, including saying "no" with the necessary information, courage, and respect for their rights.

PWYP's Achievements:

- Successfully launched global campaigns leading to the creation of EITI and laws requiring extractive companies to publish payments to governments in over 30 countries.
- Expanded from 24 to over 700 civil society organisation members worldwide.
- Promoted transparency, accountability, and citizen participation at local, national, regional, and international levels.

Future Vision:
A world where all citizens benefit from their natural resources, both present and future, through open, accountable, sustainable, equitable, and responsive governance of extractive sectors.
