The Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) is based on Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, aiming to provide control authorities with an effective tool for exchanging information on food safety measures. The system classifies information under two headings: Alert Notifications and Information Notifications. Alert Notifications are sent when a food or feed poses a risk and immediate action is required, while Information Notifications concern products that have not reached the market or for which necessary measures have already been taken. The European Commission publishes a weekly overview of notifications, balancing openness with protection of commercial information. Tables 1 and 2 list Alert and Information Notifications, respectively, detailing dates, notifying countries, reasons, and countries of origin for various food and feed products.
