Summary

The Los Angeles City Council is considering a report to accept the 2018 Regional Hazardous Materials Response (RHMR) Agreement in the amount of up to $190,000 for the period of March 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months. The agreement, provided by the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), will reimburse the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) for hazardous materials training costs, including backfill and overtime expenses. The LAFD is required to provide annual hazmat training to maintain response capabilities as part of an ongoing agreement to operate a Type II hazmat response vehicle. The funding will not impact the LAFD's General Fund, as Cal OES will reimburse the department up to $190,000.
