1) Welcome and Purpose of SHAC – 11:35am
Becker introduced himself and welcomed new members, emphasizing the importance of the advisory role that the SHAC serves to the district.
2) Information:
a. Campus Health:
- CDC guidelines were discussed, including symptoms management, COVID-Tracing, and masks updates.
- Staff with pre-existing health conditions were recommended to get vaccinated, and self-registration for the Bell County waiting list was suggested.
- The virus was not spreading on campuses, with more staff than students testing positive.
b. School Nutrition:
- Laura Nicholson gave an update on accommodations made for remote-learners and serving food.
c. Student Mental Health:
- Mental health was reported to be at an all-time low, but students were working hard to maintain their academic standing.
- Most students had returned to in-person learning due to the stress of remote-learning.
3) Remote Learner Data Report:
a. Dr. Becker reviewed data on students in remote learning for the first semester, with about 145 students across the district.
b. The report showed that more than half of the district had no engagement or academic issues with remote learning.
c. However, about 25% of students were failing at least one class, with sporadic attendance and attendance issues.
