Summary

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) reports on its standard-setting work programme and capacity building activities. The four OIE Specialist Commissions met virtually in September 2022 to review and develop new international standards. Key developments include updates on bovine spongiform encephalopathy, foot and mouth disease, rabies, Rift Valley fever, equine diseases, and responsible use of antimicrobial agents. The Aquatic Animals Commission reviewed susceptible species for OIE listed aquatic animal diseases and developed new chapters for the Aquatic Code. WOAH also provides scientific advice through ad hoc Groups and publishes information on its website.
