Summary

American Medical Response (AMR) submitted written testimony to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs' Subcommittee on Health, stating that despite working with the VA for over 2 years, they still have a payment backlog of approximately $15.8 million for services provided to veterans. AMR has been operating since 1992, providing over 3.3 million transports annually, with around 100,000 services provided to veterans. The VA's lack of consistent processes, electronic capability for claims submission, and huge backlog of delinquent payments make it difficult for AMR to get reimbursed. The current payment backlog includes $4.5 million in claims over 90 days old, with $967,000 of contracted claims remaining outstanding over 90 days. AMR urges the Committee to consider H.R. 4689, "The Timely Payment for Veterans' Emergency Care Act," to address the VA's delinquency in claims processing.
