Summary

By 2025, policing aims to be a profession with a more representative workforce, aligning the right skills, powers, and experience to meet challenging requirements. To achieve this, embedding Learning and Development (L&D) within policing is critical to ensure the service can effectively manage change. The Policing Vision 2025 requires workforce development to meet future challenges, and focusing on L&D will enable effective planning, organisational change, and support for new recruits. Key attributes to be embedded within the organisation include evidence-informed practice, learning within and between organisations, systems and processes to support growth, double loop learning, transferring knowledge efficiently, appreciating the length of the journey, and shared leadership.
