Summary

The Economic Committee of the Ionian Islands Region decided to proceed with the negotiation procedure according to the provisions of article 32 of Law 4412/2016, regarding the transportation needs of students at the beginning and after the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The decision was made due to the lack of a tender for student transportation for the school years 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025, and the legislative regulation of article 391 of Law 4957/2022 not providing for the extension of contracts that were in force on June 30, 2022, for the 2022-2023 school year. The committee members, K. Zorbas, A. Ktenas, Ch. Skourtsis, voted in favor, while Th. Chalikias voted against, considering it a manipulation and abuse of direct assignments, and N. Gkisginis abstained, citing concerns that students might be left without transportation due to the prioritization of tourism over student transportation by entrepreneurs in September and October.
