Summary

Die Stadt Fürstenwalde steht vor einer Entscheidung: Soll das Sport- und Spaßbad Schwapp saniert werden oder soll die erste überdachte Surf-Anlage Deutschlands, die SURF ERA, mit integriertem Spaßbad gebaut werden und eine neue Sportschwimmhalle entstehen? Die Sanierung des Schwapp würde etwa 27 Millionen Euro kosten und das Bad weitere 30 Jahre betriebsfähig machen, aber keine Erweiterungen oder neuen Attraktionen ermöglichen. Die SURF ERA würde auf dem Gelände des Schwapp und einem Teil des benachbarten Lacufa-Grundstücks entstehen und eine neue Sportschwimmhalle in der Großen Freizeit ermöglichen, die etwa 22,6 Millionen Euro kosten würde. Die Stadtverordneten haben eine Beteiligung der Einwohnerinnen und Einwohner beschlossen, um ein Stimmungs- und Meinungsbild zu erstellen.
