Summary

Un abri est un endroit de la côte où un engin, une embarcation ou un navire et son équipage peuvent se mettre en sécurité sans assistance, en tenant compte des conditions météorologiques et des caractéristiques de l'engin. Les navires de plaisance sont soumis à des règles de sécurité, notamment en ce qui concerne les équipements de sécurité obligatoires, tels que les équipements individuels de flottabilité, les dispositifs lumineux, les moyens de lutte contre l'incendie, etc. La distance de navigation par rapport à un abri est laissée à l'initiative du chef de bord, qui doit choisir l'équipement de sécurité adapté à la navigation pratiquée. Les équipements de sécurité sont classés en fonction de la zone de navigation : basique (jusqu'à 2 milles d'un abri), côtier (jusqu'à 6 milles), semi-hauturier (entre 6 et 60 milles) et hauturier (au-delà de 60 milles). Il est recommandé de vérifier régulièrement l'état des équipements de sécurité et de les entretenir correctement.
