Summary

The Marsh Island Hydrologic Restoration Project, located in Iberia Parish, Louisiana, aims to restore the historical hydrology of the area by plugging oil field access canals and stabilizing the northeastern shoreline of Marsh Island. The project encompasses 6,697 acres of wetlands, including 5,034 acres of brackish marsh and 1,663 acres of open water. Monitoring efforts will focus on aerial photography, SAV sampling, and satellite imagery to evaluate changes in land and water areas within the project area. Hydrologic monitoring will be stopped after 5 years post-construction in 2006.
