Since seven months, the Ukrainian people have been resisting the invasion of Putin's army. This spectacular resistance against the second largest army in the world would not be possible without massive popular support. The recent successes of the Ukrainian army's counter-attacks, regardless of their outcome, symbolize the popular will to liberate the entire territory. It is indeed a struggle for national liberation that the Ukrainian people are leading, faced with the negation of their existence. Putin's imperialist aggression can be defeated.

The fighting and bombardments have already resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of lives in Ukraine and pose a major nuclear risk. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, located on the Dnieper River on the front line, has suffered multiple bombardments and serious damage since February, with the site now occupied by the Russian army, its men, and its equipment. The destruction of industrial sites has also caused often irreparable ecological damage in the east of the country.

Peace passes through the unconditional withdrawal of Putin's army, which occupies 20% of the country. It is entirely legitimate for Ukrainians to defend themselves militarily and obtain all the necessary weapons for their liberation. Our social camp must not stint its support, and impose the immediate demilitarization of the perimeter of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

An antisocial offensive by the powerful: The USA and the European Union want to take advantage of this unexpected resistance to strengthen their policies and develop NATO and military spending. In France, the government justifies a three-billion-euro annual increase in the military budget by sending minimal weapons to Ukraine (the 11th effort in Europe)... planned long before February 2022! The war in Ukraine also serves as a shameful alibi for justifying all price increases, energy, food, etc. In Ukraine itself, martial law helps the liberal government of Zelensky to attack the rights of workers and adopt laws dismantling social rights to favor big Ukrainian capitalists.

Concrete support: Independent of any government and imperialism, concrete campaigns (associated with the NPA) are being built in France and Europe. They provide humanitarian and material aid to the resistance in Ukraine, to all associations, unions, feminist, ecological, and anti-capitalist movements that participate in the resistance in all its forms against the invasion, but also fight against antisocial measures. These "bottom-up" campaigns also provide aid to the anti-war opposition silenced by Putin in Russia and Belarus, and to the displaced within and outside Ukraine, demanding that the rights granted to Ukrainians be granted to all refugees. These campaigns deserve our widest popular support.
