Required documents and information for inspection include:
- Arrival draft and displacement
- Last 10 ports of call
- Crew and passenger lists
- Fuel on board
- Voyage number
- Last Port State Control
- Various certificates (IAPP, International Ship Security, Safety Equipment, etc.)
- Copies of stowage plan, displacement, container summary, and bunker delivery notes.
Changes in transit conditions must be reported to the Panama Canal inspector and updated via the vessel's local agent.
Minimum salt water draft requirements are available on the Panama Canal website.
Bunker delivery notes are required if the vessel is using residual marine fuel.
Boarding facilities must be ready on arrival, and pilots will board the vessel at the breakwater entrance or inner anchorage.
A second inspector may board Neopanamax vessels for antenna installation.
The pilot ladder should be on the starboard side for transit.
The ACP TOLLS BASIS Certificate is delivered on the vessel's second visit to the Canal.
Wire ropes and ropes composed of wire and fiber are not acceptable for Canal operations.
