The Vancouver Physician Staff Association is a society established under the Societies Act. Its name is Vancouver Physician Staff Association. The society's purposes are to support the improvement of medical staff engagement within Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, and GF Strong Rehab Centre, and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Specifically, the society aims to:

Support the effective representation of medical staff views
Contribute to the development and achievement of Vancouver Coastal Health plans and initiatives
Prioritize issues significantly affecting physicians and patient care
Facilitate meaningful interactions between medical staff and Vancouver Coastal Health leaders

The society also aims to improve processes locally within Vancouver Coastal Health and provide physicians with information to facilitate effective engagement and consultation. Additionally, it supports physicians in acquiring leadership and other skills required to participate in discussions affecting physicians and their role in the healthcare system.

The society receives annual funding from the Specialist Services Committee, which it uses exclusively for governance, administration, compensation of physicians, and costs contributing to the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding 2014 Regional and Local Engagement.

The society's bylaws outline its membership, meeting procedures, and other governance matters. Membership is open to physicians and other medical staff, and the society has a table of contents outlining its bylaws, including interpretation, membership, meeting of members, and proceedings at general meetings.
