Summary

The State Human Resources Commission aims to provide a workplace free from violence by establishing preventative measures, holding perpetrators accountable, and providing assistance and support to victims. Workplace violence includes intimidation, bullying, stalking, threats, physical attack, domestic violence, and property damage. The policy applies to all State employees and prohibits actions such as engaging in workplace violence, using or threatening to use unauthorized weapons, and misusing authority. Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. The agency is expected to protect victims, offer support, and provide accommodations to enhance their safety. Authorized exceptions to the policy include possessing a weapon in compliance with North Carolina law, with agency authorization, or as required for job duties.
