The Women, Peace and Security Focal Points Network, representing 100 members, met in Washington, D.C. from 6 to 9 June 2023, and issued a joint communiqué. The network welcomed the growth to 100 members, making it the largest cross-regional forum of UN Member States and regional organizations. The meeting theme focused on "Advancing the adaptability and evolution of WPS as a framework for implementing policy change". The network reaffirmed the centrality of the WPS agenda and diverse women's leadership to international and national peace and security, and condemned the rollback on women's human rights. The network committed to implementing previous meeting communiqués and recommendations, and highlighted the need for guidance on the role and responsibilities of WPS Focal Points, and the importance of supporting National Action Plan implementation. Recommendations included developing a guidance document for WPS Focal Points, providing comprehensive support to WPS Focal Points, and advocating for the full implementation of the WPS agenda.
